Lots More on the

    Mare Motel & Pasture

After receiving many questions about the horse facilities on our property, we have worked up a complete layout and taken lots more pictures in an effort to convey how the Mare Motel and Arena area is laid out and designed for maximum flexibility and utility.  The Mare Motel and Arena area is 72 feet by 58 feet total.

This view of the facility is from the Master Bedroom:

(Shown with both gates to the pasture open allowing full free access)

This layout is close to accurate scale:

Features to Note:

This picture is marked up to show the original

owner's design intentions:

{also see the barn, pool, & garden plots on the aerial pictures on

the main page}

The barn site has city water and multiple electrical conduit runs already in place.  There is also a rolling gate already installed at the close end of the large stalls that would roll across to the barn.

There is 110 feet of "horse-to-house" distance (between the back of the house and the mare motel), so the potential garden area is huge and the pasture 'smells' are farther from the house.  In addition to the flood irrigation to the garden, there is also a drip irrigation system (on city water) and multiple water spigots.  Part of this garden area had been fertilized and utilized in the past, but is currently unused.

In the lower part of the garden area directly behind the outdoor fireplace the original builders had laid out an oval swimming pool (the pool layout is clearly shown on the aerial photos on the first page).

Front Stalls, with one horse in center stall:

Note the full roof coverage of the front stalls while the back stalls are just over half covered.

There's also a wind break on the last rear stall facing the pasture (Yes, we do get a few cold winds in winter - 40's or high 30's but blowing.  Anything close to freezing is usually with dead calm winds).

Full-width of the Front:

In this shot you can see the first stall being used for hay storage - note that the gate to this stall is 12 feet wide to allow a truck or trailer to be backed in for unloading.

The cinder-block stacks in the foreground protect water pipes and electrical conduits already run to the potential barn site.  You can also see the rolling gate at the end of the large stall ready to enclose the path to the barn site.
