Lots More on the
Mare Motel & Pasture
This view of the facility is from the Master Bedroom:
(Shown with both gates to the pasture open allowing full free access)
This layout is close to accurate scale:

The largest stall (at the lower right) has an oversize 12-foot-wide gate, which allows a truck or trailer to be backed in for easy hay storage
The entire 72 foot by 58 foot area is elevated above the pasture and garden areas, so the area stays dry when irrigation floods the pasture and garden. The laid out site for a barn is also elevated for the same purpose, and there are pipes laid under the raised area that transfer irrigation water from the pasture to the garden.
The water spigots shown in the layout are connected to city water - and there is also drip irrigation from city water plumbed to the garden.
The chicken coop area is completely covered with chain link fence - prevents nighttime coyote losses (yes, there are coyotes and other animals in the area - this is very close to a wild area).
The area marked 'goat pen' could be used for any small animals.
This picture is marked up to show the original
owner's design intentions:

the main page}
There is 110 feet of "horse-to-house" distance (between the back of the house and the mare motel), so the potential garden area is huge and the pasture 'smells' are farther from the house. In addition to the flood irrigation to the garden, there is also a drip irrigation system (on city water) and multiple water spigots. Part of this garden area had been fertilized and utilized in the past, but is currently unused.
In the lower part of the garden area directly behind the outdoor fireplace the original builders had laid out an oval swimming pool (the pool layout is clearly shown on the aerial photos on the first page).
Front Stalls, with one horse in center stall:
There's also a wind break on the last rear stall facing the pasture (Yes, we do get a few cold winds in winter - 40's or high 30's but blowing. Anything close to freezing is usually with dead calm winds).
Full-width of the Front:
The cinder-block stacks in the foreground protect water pipes and electrical conduits already run to the potential barn site. You can also see the rolling gate at the end of the large stall ready to enclose the path to the barn site.
Mountain and Mare Motel at dawn:
There are two gates at each end of the pasture in addition to a gated entry to the mare motel - there are rolling vehicle access gates and wide walking gates on each end (see aerial pictures on main page).
Pasture has two separate irrigation inlet gates and has a raised center path and road - either side can be independently flooded if desired and you can still walk, ride, or drive through pasture to the back walking gate or alley gate without going through irrigation water or mud.
Pasture is completely fenced with high-quality six-foot chain link fencing on steel posts.
